John Muir College - Celebrating the Independent Spirit

What is the petition process for General Education (GE) courses?

Whenever you would like to request to substitute a UCSD course within a specified GE sequence or substitute a non-UCSD course(s) in a GE sequence you must submit a General Education petition to the Muir Advising Office for college approval prior to taking the course. General Education petitions are available at the Muir Academic Advising Office (HSS 2126).

On the petition list the 3 courses that you plan to use to complete the GE sequence. Fill in all requested information and attach a copy of a course description for any non-UCSD courses petitioned.

If a community college course has been approximated to a UCSD course appropriate for GE on assist.org there is no need to submit a petition.
