There are several ways to transfer to Muir College:
TAG: (Transfer Articulation Guarantee)
Select colleges participate in a Transfer Articulation Guarantee
contract to be fulfilled before entrance to UCSD. TAG guarantees
admission to a specific college at UCSD and fulfills most of the
academic requirements for Muir College. Once at Muir, TAG tudents must
complete Muir College Writing 50 or 125, one course in the diversity of
U.S. culture, and eighteen upper-division courses.
IGETC: (Intersegmental General-Education Transfer Curriculum)
Completion of the Intersegmental General-Education Transfer Curriculum
fulfills most of the academic requirements for Muir College.
Once at Muir, IGETC students must complete Muir College Writing 50 or 125,
one course in the diversity of U.S. culture, and eighteen upper-division
courses. Completion of IGETC must be certified by the community college
before the student begins the first term at UCSD. Note that many colleges
do not automatically certify your IGETC when they send
a copy of your transcript. You are likely to need a separate certification
form to be sent from your community college's advising office to UCSD
Admissions. Please check with your community college as to the appropriate
procedure to follow.
Inter-Campus Transfer (ICT)
Students who have attended any University of California campuses may
apply for transfer to any other UC campus. Transfers who have satisfied
lower-division breadth and general-education requirements at their
original campus prior to transfer to UCSD will fulfill most of Muir's
academic requirements. Students must complete Muir College
Writing 40 and 50 (this may be satisfied by equivalent courses at the
student's original campus), one course in the diversity of U.S.
culture, and eighteen upper-division courses after transfer. A letter
or memo certifying completion of your GE requirements must be sent to
the Muir College Advising Office to clear your Muir College General
Education requirement.
Traditional Transfers
Students meeting the admissions criteria for the university may be admitted to UCSD without completion of a transfer program such as TAG or IGETC. Traditional Transfer students must complete Muir College Writing 40 and 50, one course in the diversity of U.S. culture, eighteen upper-division courses, and any general education courses not fulfilled before transfer to UCSD. Admissions criteria can be found at admissions.ucsd.edu. Course equivalencies for our General Education requirements can be found at www.assist.org
